chantal starts day 4

Is it fair to say I have no concept of what day of the week it is, aside from Day 4? Our days have been following a lovely rhythm. Wake up. Check in with Chantal/Craig/ Alan on the trail (I'm currently writing these posts remotely until I get to hang out with her ALL DAY THURSDAY YEEHAW), write a few posts, check in with Chantal, eat/ hang out with my kids, check in with the team.... I just sat down to write this post and thought.... what day is it today? Did she run with Denise today or yesterday...? Ah yes... today was the wildlife and waterfall day!

Chantal was in a great spirits this morning. I mean, really how can you not after a massage with a view and a good nights sleep?

Matt Carrel, RMT

Chantal was ready to go at 6am and started the day with a solo leg (Runners lingo note, leg= section of trail). Chantal sent us some pictures to update us on her progress, and even had reception in the woods to do a Facebook live video! Check it out in case you missed it. Chantal showed us a prickly friend she made on the trail who didn't want to let her by. Nothing like a big porcupine on the trail to hold you up... although I'm sure it's better than running into a bear on the trail!

Leg 2 was beautiful... and I'm not just talking about the Chantal ;) (that was for you K.A.). Chantal was thrilled to have her friend and Wild Bruce Chase teammate Denise drop in for some pacing duties. Oh, and did I mention Denise JUST finished helping set the team relay record this weekend with the Bruce Chase ladies on the Rideau Trail? Read about their record here.

Denise and Chantal had fun chatting, meeting other hikers on the trail, and petting some road-side pigs. Yes you read that right...

Chantal thought these pigs were just the cutest things she's ever seen! Too bad she has 700km more to go or she may have asked to adopt one... I'm sure Jeff wouldn't mind :)

The pictures that were shared with the team from this section were amazing. This definitely is a section you don't want to miss. Inglis falls was beautiful, Boyd's Crevasse stunning,

In addition to Alan and Craig's lovely faces, Chantal's husband Jeff also came out today with the dogs to support her. Jeff had a wee adventure reading the blazes and got a bit turned around. But don't worry, he made it out before the mosquitoes could carry him away!

Chantal was still feeling great tonight and decided to squeeze in a few more kms before hitting the hay. She is taking advantage of this beautiful weather tonight (and there are no mosquitoes at night.... have I mentioned the mosquitoes are bad?).

Todays Fun Facts: Pacers- Denise, Craig

Have a great night!
